PERSONALITY/TRAITS: Roger can be described as macabre, solicitous, obsessive, strange, socially awkward, reclusive, prone to extreme mood swings, gloomy/sorrowful, having a somewhat surreal worldview, and constantly overthinking/overanalyzing. He is considered to have above-average intelligence and he collects antiques and vintage/retro things of all sorts. He considers himself to be an introvert and, while mostly pessimistic, an occasional optimist. He always tries to tackle problems head-on if he considers it possible.
Politically, he's a moderate liberal/Democrat but likes to keep his views private due to fear of receiving backlash for them. He started out as an egg, as did his cousin. They wouldn't hatch until an entire year after their creation. The scientists eventually stopped receiving funding for this project with contributors wondering about the ethics of bringing dinosaurs back to life due to growing environmental concerns, as they are considered more primitive than modern creatures, as well as the idea that they will have more trouble adapting to current-day etiquette and laws such as the consumption of or procuring of meat from minors under any circumstances being illegal.
Roger and Dominick were dropped in 2 different spots, far away from each other, and thus were separated. The two share a double birthday, being created and hatched on the same day. Luckily enough, they were also found by 2 people who happened to be siblings and thus were able to meet again later in life. Roger's mother was an emu who was married to a male Sandhill crane. He had 2 siblings who happened to be a hybrid of the two species. He was the only dinosaur in his family, something he had taken notice of. He always wondered why he was the one of only members of his family that was a dinosaur, and why he never saw more members of his own species aside from Dominick. One day, though, his parents decided to tell him the truth; that he was adopted and that his particular species had died off millions of years ago—they were extinct. He found it devastating at first but was also glad his parents had told him. It hit him hard for about a few hours, but eventually, he stopped feeling so sad about it. Instead, he was intrigued and wanted to learn more about dinosaurs in general and about other extinct species and how they got "wiped out".
